POSITIVE PARTNERS (PP)will be represented tomorrow at the PRONACO (Nigeria's alternative Political Reforms Conference) Council Meeting holding in Lagos, Nigeria. The PP team will include PP Council Chairman Ambassador Segun Olusola and PP Executive Secretary, Mr. Tony I. Uranta (they may be joined by PP President, Commodore (Dr.) M. A. Buhari), both coming onboard the PRONACO-train through PP-partnering organisation AREF (African Refugees Foundation), which is also chaired by Ambassador Olusola, Nigeria's eminent statesman and humanitarian.
2 Comments:
We all pray that PRONACO will augur well for the future of Nigeria as a united nation, because it is clear that many expected delegates at this civil society-led conference are not coming there to split hairs, quibble over niceties, or make great concessions, but to make certain positions clearly known; and it is not impossible that, given the prevailing mood of intolerance that greeted many progressives at the just-aborted government-led CONFAB, PRONACO's change-bent delegates will come in with guns smoking (figuratively speaking, of course!).
Shalom!!!
We (Ambassador Olusola, Dr. Raheem, Ms. Oduwaiye, & I, representing PP-associate, AREF) attended the PRONACO General Assembly Meeting as expected.
We were not overly impressed by the level of POSITIVE effectual preparedness of the PRONACO Conference organisers, especially the Secretariat and the zonal bodies (only the South-South zone appears to be really well-prepared to actualise the PRONACO vision!); but allowances were made, and decisions arrived at, that should let the programme be succesfully launched on 1st October 2005 (with all zones and delegates submitting memoranda and position papers for scrutiny by all others during a study-recess period of about three weeks, that will coincide with Ramadan fasting of the muslims in Nigeria). But the Conference debates and deliberations proper will truly commence from early November.
Details will soon be made available to the press by the media team of PRONACO. May God help Nigerians redesign this leading African nation positively and peacefully, to the ultimate betterment of the whole world. Amen.
Shalom!!!
